About us
We are the official trade body that ensures housebuilders, commercial projects, and infrastructure developments have access to a guaranteed supply of high-integrity off-site Biodiversity Units that are easy to purchase, cost-effective, and provide a simple way to meet Biodiversity Net Gain planning requirements.

Collectively, we are reversing biodiversity loss at pace by placing thousands of acres of land into nature recovery every year entirely through private investment. We provide a critical diversification of income to farmers in England and contribute significantly to fuelling a thriving green economy through a rigorous, high-integrity nature market.

We are committed to ensuring the Government meets its pledge to build 1.5 million houses in England while protecting the natural environment.

News
Open letter to the government regarding Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) reforms.
The BNG Federation, representing the leading habitat banks driving the UK’s nature market, writes to acknowledge the Government’s statement regarding the evolution of the Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) policy.

We note the confirmation that developments of 0.2 hectares or less will now be exempt from BNG requirements, alongside the move to simplify the regime for residential brownfield sites under 2.5 hectares. We also welcome the continued consultation on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
